Today was our Minnesota SharePoint Users Group meeting on WebPart Development. It was a blast to help prepare for and I think it went over well with the crowd, despite there being a large range in skillsets present. We covered some basics on what a WebPart is, walked through building a "Hello World" WebPart, and discussed Part to Part communication with some samples. A slide-deck and some sample code should be available later today, for anyone interested.
For this presentation I got to help drive for a little bit, running the PowerPoint, walking through some samples, and writing some code samples. In one of my more embarrassing moments, I was trying to restart the PowerPoint presentation from a specific slide number... but I completely blanked on how! I could start the presentation again... but I could not get it to skip to slide #35 or so. And, of course, when you're on stage the odds of you figuring it out quickly are pretty low so I decided to just start the slide show and "fast forward" through all of the slides. So, for any of you out there in a similar situation, just remember:
